Together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Small Grants Programme (SGP), the European Environmental Bureau and the Zero Mercury Working Group (EEB-ZMWG) are pleased to be organising and hosting a series of regional workshops under the project, “Building Local to Global Coalitions for Chemicals and Waste Management, Towards Zero Mercury Use, Supply, Trade and Emissions.” Consistent with the goal of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, the objective of the workshops are to develop public interest NGOs’ capacity to  develop and implement mercury reduction projects at the local  level  through fostering information sharing and learning experiences in mercury management, with an emphasis on source and use reduction. Furthermore, training on how to apply for and implement a UNDP SGP project will be provided, in view of having more UNDP SGP mercury-related projects granted to public interest NGOs in the coming years.

In order to better identify and evaluate candidates for the EEB/ZMWG- UNDP SGP Conferences, your organisation would be asked to provide the following information:

  1. State the name and address of the nominated organization, and where, when and to whom it is registered;
  2. Describe, as relevant, the mercury or chemical related work that the organization is currently undertaking, or has in the past:
  3. Describe, as relevant, where the organisation has undertaken any prior SGP grant project, and provide details in terms of title and objective of the project,  technical and financial management and delivery of results:
  4. Is the organization a member of any international NGO coalition/network? If so, which network(s)?
  5. Explain why you believe this organization should be nominated for this conference. Provide a name and full details(including email address), in addition to their level of English (basic, conversation, fluent) to the person who you think should represent the organisation at the workshop and explain why.

In this regard, the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations in support of the Government of Saint Lucia’s request for civil society involvement is issuing this call for CSOs interested in involvement in this initiative.

Please communicate your organisation’s interest by 12:00 p.m. on 8th March 2019 and provide a response to the questions listed above. Your expression of interest should be sent via email: saintluciacsocoalition@gmail.com.
