The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) has received a donation of wheelchairs and mobility devices from the international organization, LDS Charities, which is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Wheelchairs are funded with individual donations from Church members throughout the world.

These wheelchairs and devices will greatly benefit Saint Lucians with disabilities who are in need of such devices. The donations will be assigned to selected recipients with appointments from  14th to 18th January 2019 at the Castries City Hall. Persons desirous of receiving a wheelchair must be a person with a disability who is able to sit upright unassisted, MUST be in a position to be present for a twenty minute assessment and fitting at the Castries City Hall, and must be above the age of 14.  Please contact NCPD head office at 453-1539 or 716-3214 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon from Monday, 14th January to Wednesday,  16th January 2019 in order to set an appointment.

The international team of volunteer specialists from LDS Charities will also train a local team of technicians and assessors which includes Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to continue this programme.

The NCPD is committed to working with all partner agencies for the greater empowerment of PWDs in Saint Lucia and we greatly value the commitment of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to our sector.
